The Company:

Quality Servomotor Repairs was set up in 2011 to service the needs of electric motor rewind companies, automation engineers, machine refurbishers, industrial electronics repairers, and other service providers in the north-west of England.

QSRL customers usually re-sell the motor repairs to another intermediary or an end-user. The repairs must be extremely reliable, rapid, and at a price which allows the savings to be passed on to their own customers. QSRL has provided that service since 2011.

The Repairs:

Each motor model has its own motor record which includes its electrical, electronic, and mechanical characteristics. A new motor record usually takes between four hours and several days to construct; it is, essentially, a summary of the procedures and tooling necessary to effect a good repair of that motor and its variants. It gives details of how to use any mechanical tools which have been designed and machined, any electronic interfaces which have had to be designed and built, and any software which has had to be written.

Every job has its own four-page assessment schedule. This is used to summarise the mechanical, electrical, electronic and/or software faults found by the assessing engineers. It is used by the workshop manager to add up the costs necessary to effect the repair and, usually, to make suggestions about how to ameliorate the possibility of re-occurrence of the fault(s).

The Staff:

Each member of our staff was selected on the basis of their aptitude, attitude, and interest in the area for which they are being recruited. The recruitment process is unforgiving. It is a commonly held adage in QSRL that it takes three years for a suitable trainee to become competent and five years for them to become expert.
